Cloud computing is dramatically accelerating the number of systems and technologies with which integration solutions have to interact. As new SaaS applications seem to appear every day, defining the specifics for each of these one at a time quickly becomes a daunting task. To address this new challenge, Oracle has created a universal cloud adapter. This adapter supports DataDirect Cloud and allows you to better leverage Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) with all of these cloud applications across Oracle, Microsoft, Salesforce, and Amazon—to name a few.
So yes, it is technically possible to integrate cloud applications with Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) by leveraging industry standards for connectivity. My team and I at Progress DataDirect have been working closely with the ODI team to help you understand how to easily integrate all your cloud applications with ODI. You’ll want to check out the July 2015 Oracle A-Team article “A Universal Cloud Applications Adapter for ODI,” which provides a list of the SaaS applications and PaaS services that Oracle Data Integrator can connect to as of today. In an October 2015 blog post on the Oracle A-team site, I was excited to collaborate with Oracle and Forrester to develop and test the adapter as mentioned in the article: “Need to Integrate your Cloud Applications with On-Premise Systems… What about ODI?”
