To recap, some of the most important features in OpenEdge 11.3 include:
1) Business Process Management (BPM)
Business Process Management (BPM) is an integrated capability of OpenEdge 11.3. OpenEdge BPMfully supports stateful processes and human interaction, and provides access to several managed adapters for rapid development and deployment of process-oriented applications.
Security across the BPM system and the application tier of an OpenEdge application are now unified and seamless. The powerful ProDataSet facility of the OpenEdge is now accessible from OpenEdge BPM, enabling convenient and secure access to data in a form suitable for consumption by an OpenEdge application.
2) Business Rules Management System (BRMS)
Progress Corticon is integrated with OpenEdge, allowing you to automate even the most complex decision-making logic in your applications. Programmatic access to a Corticon decision service is a simple callable interface from ABL, no longer requiring an explicit web service call.
The added capability of importing OpenEdge Database Schema increases the level of sharing of application data across the OpenEdge platform and ensures a consistent framework for developing applications. Database Schema can be imported into Corticon rules to develop a vocabulary for rules sets.
