Building an App in JavaScript is Insanely Simple

May 08, 2015 Data & AI

Few things in life are as simple as it now is to build an application completely in JavaScript.

If life were simple, you could raise perfect children in an afternoon, acquire a PhD in a few weekends and institute world peace in a matter of months. Alas, the productivity revolution is so far confined to web-based application development with Node.js.

What are the Implications of Apps Fully Coded in JavaScript?

My Telerik colleague, Carl Bergenhem, Manager of the Solutions Consultant team, has put together a short, elegant and compelling SlideShare presentation, Building a Web App in 100% JavaScript Using Node.js, Express.js and Kendo UI. Carl’s presentation demonstrates just how simple this development process can be. It’s like reading a primer, with a few chunks of code thrown in the mix. If you’ve been among the doubters, take a few minutes—and I really do mean a few—to walk through the process and think about the implications.

After I reviewed it, I started muttering, “Insanely great!” under my breath as if I were channeling Steve Jobs! Carl even touches on debugging.

Node.js is Changing Web Development Forever

At Progress, we have a history of providing reliable, stable tools for app developers, so we don’t go off the deep end about every new thing that comes along. Node.js and the changes it is enabling, however, is proving to be more than a passing fad.
