Compared to relational databases, whose history stretches back into the 1970s, NoSQL databases are new to the enterprise scene.
Adam Fowler, a senior sales engineer for MarkLogic based in the U.K., used Google to research prevailing opinions about NoSQL — and posted it on his blog which we covered a few weeks ago. Data Informed saw the post and asked Adam to debunk some myths about NoSQL on a recent podcast. The least surprising result from his research? That a NoSQL server is a great platform to build apps on. The biggest surprise? That people thought it was impossible for a NoSQL database to be ACID compliant. We, and all our enterprise customers, certainly know differently, don’t we? Great stuff Adam!
