It’s hard to believe, but it’s September already! Along with going back to school and preparing for Fall, September also marks something else this year: the 20th birthday of the ODBC standard. That’s right, our beloved ODBC, co-founded by Progress’ very own John Goodson, was developed twenty years ago, in September of 1992. Back then, few of us could have known how integral the API would be for today’s environment, yet twenty years later the standard is still leveraged regularly by developers to take on critical business challenges, including Big Data, cloud computing and mobile computing. It’s difficult to think of another technology that was relevant in the early 1990s and still delivers huge value today. That’s why we’re so excited about ODBC and want to wish it a very happy 20th birthday! To show just how much we care, we’ve put together this little video to wish the standard well:
