Progress is committed to protecting and preserving the world in which we live. Learn more about what we’re doing amid COVID-19, and what you can do.
On Earth Day this year, we are reminded now more than ever of how vital it is we look after our planet. Citizens and corporations alike must take the necessary actions to minimize our negative impact and help this world flourish.
We at Progress have always been committed to protecting and preserving the world in which we live, work and play as it is an integral part of our corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, Progress for Tomorrow.
Our employees play a huge role in our efforts. From simple yet powerful actions such as using reusable water bottles instead of plastic cups, to larger activities, such as volunteering to plant trees; the Progress team makes green choices. For example, our Morrisville, North Carolina, office is leading the charge in our composting initiative. From January to March, the team reported it created 127 pounds of compost after diverting 506 pounds of waste from landfill. These numbers amount to 25 plants, 127 tomatoes and 2875 miles not driven.
More great work comes from our Sofia, Bulgaria, office where employees frequently identify environmentally friendly actions to take while encouraging others to participate. One great example is their involvement in the national initiative Plastic Caps for the Future, which is focused on collecting and selling plastic caps for donations toward purchasing baby incubators where necessary.
In addition to the activities from our employees, we have also made a concerted effort to reduce our small fleet of vehicles and to replace any gasoline-powered vehicles with electric or hybrid options. As of fiscal year 2019, all our vehicles in Sofia have been replaced with all-electric vehicles, and we have installed electric vehicle charging stations at our Bedford, Massachusetts, Sofia and Rotterdam, Netherlands, locations.
As Progress continues with our Progress for Tomorrow initiative, we will strive to advance our environmental sustainability efforts so we can help this planet as much as possible. And although it may be difficult this year to gather on Earth Day to clean beaches and plant trees due to social distancing, there are still plenty of ways to get involved and support the cause. The Earth Day organization has done a fantastic job compiling virtual events and resources you’ll find valuable. Take a look here at the Earth Day 2020 page.
Happy Earth Day everyone; and let’s be sure we make every day Earth Day.
