The Progress OpenEdge World Tour 2023 showcases product news, business updates and more for our customers and partners worldwide.
What do the United States, United Kingdom, Switzerland and Australia have in common? Each country is a stop on the Progress OpenEdge World Tour 2023.
We’re traversing the globe this year with dozens of stops for the OpenEdge World Tour 2023. Our biggest stop is yet to come: Las Vegas, Nevada from September 26 to 27 at the Wynn Las Vegas hotel. This two-day conference-sized event also has the distinction of being the first time the OpenEdge community hears details about our newest Long Term Supported Release, OpenEdge 12.8.
The Las Vegas World Tour stop will feature two tracks: Business and Technical. Depending on attendees' interests, they can hear about best practices for growing their business from executive-level speakers or they can join sessions with detailed information developers and DBAs would appreciate. Topics range from the security implications of outdated processes and tools delivered by Progress CIO, Ian Pitt, to how to implement a CI/CD pipeline, presented by Shelley Chase, Progress Software Fellow.
Progress Provides Business Updates About OpenEdge and More
When the world shut down in 2020, it prevented our OpenEdge community from gathering. Now, in 2023, we once again get to travel the globe to connect with a broad audience of OpenEdge application developers and executives.
The Progress OpenEdge World Tour is a celebration of our customer and partner community. Hundreds of people have already experienced events in cities across Europe and three cities in Australia. Attendees listened to valuable sessions from their local OpenEdge experts around best practices for their mission-critical use of OpenEdge.
The agenda at recent stops focused on customer stories, security, product updates and an exclusive look at the OpenEdge product roadmap. Audiences heard a status update on the Progress business, including details about our latest acquisition complementary to OpenEdge, Progress MarkLogic. We also provided details around the most sought-after features of recent OpenEdge releases, including what’s new with OpenEdge 12.7, our most recent Innovation Release.
In each of our stops in Australia and the UK, John Ainsworth, EVP and GM, Application and Data Platforms took the stage to present as well as meet with local media and partners. Ainsworth says that, after an extended time away, he found it “energizing and exciting” to be back together in person. “We want to engage with our customers to help them in their ongoing journey as the technology landscape evolves.”
Progress Answers “Why is Application Modernization Important for Your Organization?”
In addition to information about product updates, audience members learned not only how to update their OpenEdge to the latest version but also why it is critical to engage in application modernization. Sessions in Las Vegas will go even deeper, with topics such as application vulnerabilities and the steps to take when migrating your applications with Progress Application Server (PAS) for OpenEdge.
In his presentations titled "Hidden Costs & Security Implications of Not Modernizing" in Australia and "Modernization: What’s New?" in Sweden, Ruben Droge, OpenEdge Principal Sales Engineer, did a deep dive into the benefits of application modernization. Droge says audiences in both countries came away understanding “that although application modernization may mean something slightly different to each business, we identify similar challenges across regions and verticals.” He goes on to note that “there is a need for accelerating modernization efforts, especially by taking a consistent approach to projects, and with the contribution of frameworks and toolsets."
Progress OpenEdge Customers Share Their Successes During the World Tour
At several of the World Tour stops, we’ve featured a local customer or partner who has migrated to the OpenEdge 12 series to hear about their challenges and successes. Attendees were inspired by their success stories. In Malmö, Sweden, Morten Janum, CTO & Board Member at ProMark, spoke about their modernization story. Janum says that as technology continues to evolve “fewer companies can afford to do a full rewrite of their tech stacks every time something brand new arrives.” Moving to Progress Application Server (PAS) for OpenEdge prepared their company to “manage the future.”
Formal customer presentations are only one way attendees shared stories. We’ve also had plenty of time for lunches, dinners, drinks and networking with peers. At the Las Vegas conference, we’ll have breakfast, lunch and a reception Tuesday evening. We’re looking forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones. However, we are most excited for everyone to get to spend time with each other in-person.
Progress’ Biggest Stop on the OpenEdge World Tour: Las Vegas!
We hope you have had or will have a chance to attend an OpenEdge World Tour event this year. At every stop, we focus on building community, learning new skills and having a lot of fun. As the largest event on the World Tour calendar, the North America conference in Las Vegas will be no exception.
We invite you to join us in Las Vegas in September. Be sure to register as soon as possible as tickets are limited. We hope to see you there!
