Recently we hosted a free seminar at Telerik Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria for the brand new OpenEdge Developers Kit: Classroom Edition. We came away feeling like the event went well, with many of the 110 aspiring developers in attendance lingering after the event to ask questions and engage in conversations with the speakers. We’re big fans of validating our impressions with data, so we sent out a survey to all participants asking for feedback. Now that the results are in, we’re sure it was a success.
We recently recapped the seminar, but we’ll quickly highlight the main points again for anyone who missed it. This was an event geared towards future entrepreneurs, designed to give them a chance to see what OpenEdge® is all about. OpenEdge gives developers a chance to quickly make applications that can have a real impact on the world, and the free Classroom Edition makes it more accessible than ever before. It’s something we’re excited to begin sharing as the new program develops.
According to our survey, it looks like the excitement is mutual. A substantial 81% of respondents rated the seminar as very good or excellent, and the same number agreed that the content was interesting and that their interest had been sparked in OpenEdge. Virtually the same amount of people, at 80%, felt strongly that the speakers presented well and were available for questions after. We’d love to hit 100% and always strive to improve, but these are excellent numbers and we’re thrilled so many people were excited by the seminar.
Written feedback was also requested, and we came away with over three pages of it. All respondents said they wanted to learn more about OpenEdge. They held up the seminar as valuable, interesting and well organized, and many indicated they would like to attend similar workshops. The only real complaint we received was that we should magnify the presentation screen to make things easier for the students in the back. While we regret if it was hard for anyone, we’ll take it as a positive that the chief issue was that so many people wanted to engage with the presentation that they had to watch from farther back than we’d anticipated.
