In a recent letter from Mark Anzani, CTO of IBM Systems z, the company firmly states its position regarding the authorized use of IBM Specialty Engines/Processors and warns that any actions to interfere with the normal and intended operation of z/OS and IBM LIC in order to enable Specialty Engines to process workloads beyond those designated by IBM constitutes a breach of applicable agreements with IBM.
While the zPrime product from NEON Enterprise Software claims to make IBM and other third-party code zIIP eligible, the DataDirect Shadow platform’s zIIP exploitation capability does not cause IBM or any other third-party code to become zIIP-enabled and uses the ISV zIIP API provided by IBM.
