At Progress, sustainability is more than just a commitment––it is a core value that drives our actions and decisions. We are proud to announce that our efforts have been recognized, once again, with Newsweek naming Progress one of America’s Greenest Companies for 2025. This honor adds to two other important corporate social responsibility (CSR) and climate recognitions that we’ve received this year, further demonstrating our dedication to building a greener future. Among these honors, Progress was featured on USA Today’s 2024 list of America’s Climate Leaders and Newsweek’s America’s Most Responsible Companies list for 2025.

A Collective Commitment to Green Progress

From reducing our carbon footprint to promoting a culture of environmental responsibility, our journey towards sustainability has been a collective one.

Vesko Kantchev, one of the leading sustainability changemakers at Progress, emphasizes, “Living sustainably doesn’t require a grand plan or lofty goals that might feel overwhelming. It’s about being mindful of your actions and living within your means. When small, thoughtful actions are multiplied across many people, they can create meaningful change and help build a better world for all.”

Last month, Progress donated computers, transforming e-waste into valuable educational tools for underserved communities. In February 2024, Progressers in New Delhi joined a tree-planting drive showcasing their remarkable commitment to fostering a greener and healthier environment. Following on their heels, our Bengaluru office planted trees outside their new workplace. Recently, Progressers in the United States and Singapore got crafty at fun-filled Terrarium workshops where they designed unique plant environments and created miniature gardens to watch them grow with time thereby cultivating a deeper connection with nature. These initiatives underscore our global effort to make a positive environmental impact in the communities where we operate.

Progress continues to focus on minimizing its environmental impact through environmentally responsible operations. We have transitioned to LED lights in our corporate headquarters to improve energy efficiency. We have made strides in reducing our Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon footprint by 16%, cut energy use by 29% and lowered our CO2 footprint by 3% in the locations where we have operated in the past two years. By encouraging the use of water dispensers in our Burlington, MA and Sofia, BG offices, we eliminated the need for 115,070 plastic water bottles, preventing an estimated 9,527 kg CO2 e from entering the atmosphere. To top it off, our Burlington office took steps to compost 6,082 pounds of discarded food and organic material, achieving a net saving of 4,111 pounds of CO2. These seemingly modest efforts illustrate how small-scale operational changes can contribute to a larger and positive environmental impact.

The Earth Team: Stewards of Sustainability

The Earth Team has played a crucial role in Progress earning recognition as one of the greenest companies in corporate America, thanks to their passionate efforts around sustainability. Their initiatives like Plastic Free July encouraged Progressers to share tips for reducing plastic use, leading to meaningful changes in daily habits. The team organized impactful activities like the Clean Up September campaign, where employees joined in for National and World Cleanup Days to remove litter and beautify our surroundings. The team has also engaged employees in a variety of educational sessions on sustainable living such as the Home Electrification 101 session with Jan Gromadzki, which provided insights on how to electrify homes for the benefit of health, wallet and the planet. Last month, the team hosted a live virtual tour of our Progress Beehive in partnership with Bee Downtown located in Raleigh, NC to highlight Progress’ commitment to supporting local pollinators and fostering biodiversity.

Sustainable programming such as these has not only helped us create an environmental impact but has also empowered Progress employees to become champions of change and make greener choices in their daily lives. Edwin Bermudez, one of the co-leaders of the Earth Team reflects, "The Progress Earth Team unites people who are passionate about restoring our planet's beauty and balance.

Through collaboration and innovation, we create initiatives that positively impact our environment. Our goal is to inspire others to join us in helping our planet thrive for generations to come." Through their admirable leadership, the Earth Team has inspired a culture of environmental stewardship across the company.

A Year of Green Milestones

Recognitions from reputable organizations this year reflect Progress’ ongoing commitment to CSR and climate action. They are testament to our investments in renewable energy, sustainable workplace practices and our contributions to local and global environmental initiatives.

“Sustainability isn't just a word, it's a way of life,” says Rachel Peters, one of our Earth Team champions. “By incorporating sustainable practices into our daily lives––from reducing waste to making eco-friendly choices––I believe that every small action can lead to a big impact on our planet.”

As we celebrate these recognitions and achievements, we remain committed to pushing forward on our sustainable journey, continuing to find new and improved ways to minimize emissions and lead the way towards a greener future.
