Big Data is an ever-present headline in today’s news, and businesses will continue to generate even more data. This may seem like business as usual, but it’s more than just a minor annoyance for IT. The database market seems to always be in flux, and though the old guard of relational databases remains strong, new options are squeezing their way into the market.

With all of this change happening in the Big Data landscape, it can be easy to lose yourself. How do you choose the right database option for you? After you have, how do you make sure you can connect with all the data being stored there? Introducing the 2014 Developer’s Choice Awards!

Progress conducted a survey of 300 industry leaders to help answer tough questions surrounding database selection. The votes are in, and we present to you the “rising stars” in:

  • Relational Database Technologies
  • Enterprise Data Warehousing
  • Big Data and Hadoop-Based Systems
