As a Product Owner, Senior you will act as the customer proxy, serving as the bridge between our business stakeholders and the scrum team. Working closely with the Product Manager, you will create and translate the product vision and strategy into a well-defined and prioritized backlog of user stories. The Product Owner, Senior is the Agile team member primarily responsible for maximizing the value delivered by the team by ensuring that the team backlog is aligned with customer and stakeholder needs. The main focus areas will be backlog grooming and prioritization in direct partnership with our business stakeholders and coordinating with the product managers of the Sales Journey and DevSecOps ARTs on critical features for the continued evolution of our business systems.
In this role you will:
- Interpret our business needs, product strategy and vision to the technical development teams to ensure we build the right applications for the dynamic enterprise go-to-market opportunities.
- Through completing continuous stakeholder research and assessment activities, building user insights into all stages of the planning and execution processes, and ensuring continuous validation of features and stories with stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle.
- Synthesizes information across vision, roadmap, and program backlog for the team(s).
- Working closely with the Product Manager, triaging stakeholder requests, identifying user pain points and championing solutions that improve value that users derive from the application(s).
- Contributes to the team’s Strategy and Roadmap, taking ownership of the Licensing and Fulfillment Team. Presents to stakeholders and end users.
- Take the lead as the voice of the user to the scrum team and drafting the team(s) specific objectives for the upcoming Program Increments (PI) and sprints, works with the team to decompose epics into user stories and provides clarity on scope to aid the team with design and effort estimates
- Drives Sprint goals and content through prioritized backlog, ensures definition of “ready” is validated through proper acceptance criteria, tests, quality, fitness for use and supports the definition of done.
- Owns the backlog for the scrum team which includes collaboration w/ PM, PO’s, Architects, etc. to ensure the proper sequencing of backlog items based on program priorities, events, technological implications, outcomes of PI and Sprints and dependencies with other teams; may also prepare and produce PI System Demo to fold the feedback into the Team/Program backlog.
- Manage product backlog execution risks and escalate to PM as needed.
- Responsible for User Story prioritization, refinements, elaborations, story acceptance criteria, ensuring stories are clear, unambiguous as determined by the scrum team(s).
- This role will also involve occasional project management duties. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, translating business strategies into actionable plans and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products.
- Have the primary responsibilities aligned with the SAFe framework: Help create and communicate the Vision of the Product; own the backlog; ensure flow of work; Be the Voice of the Customer; Work on improving operational efficiency of the Teams
Your Background:
- Excellent logic and problem-solving skills
- A natural desire to explore the breadth of applications functionality
- Communicate effectively to present complex problems, data, and potential solutions.
- Proven experience as a Product Owner or similar role
- Ability to interpret internal/external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes, or services
- Ability to lead others in solving complex problems using strong analytical skills
- Capable of deriving insights from stakeholder feedback and system data
- Proven ability to illicit input and dedication from teams outside of their span of control
- Ability to prioritize and manage a well-defined backlog, ensuring on-time delivery of valuable features
- Ability to manage a consistent, scalable, and trustworthy coverage model so that reps, teams, and managers can efficiently manage their responsibilities
- Process oriented, identifies and solves problems to standardize and optimize end to end processes
- Ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on project oversight in order to foster a dynamic and efficient development process
- Familiarity with SAFe Agile methodologies and experience working in a SAFe Agile development environment would be a plus.
