By connecting Sitefinity CMS to Sitefinity Insight, you empower your marketing and sales teams to track your campaign landing pages and online forms completion and thus pass Sitefinity CMS forms data to Sitefinity Insight. By default, when connected to Sitefinity CMS, Sitefinity Insight tracks all forms, that is, the number of form submissions. Form data (the content visitors fill in form fields), however, is not automatically sent to Sitefinity Insight. Depending on the technology you are using, you configure differently the way form data is sent to Sitefinity Insight. Once you do, Sitefinity Insight contact profiles are enriched with the substantial amount of visitor data from landing pages, which helps marketers build more focused and effective personalization and lead nurturing initiatives.
PREREQUISITES: Make sure connection to Sitefinity Insight is properly configured. For more information, see Connect to Sitefinity Insight.
As a marketer, you can capture the data from the MVC forms that visitors submit on Sitefinity CMS websites in an easy and simple manner. To do so, via form properties, you first enable form data submission to Sitefinity Insight and then map form fields data to specific Sitefinity Insight contact properties. For example, in a Download this whitepaper form, you can map the entry to Your role field to the respective Role contact profile property in Sitefinity Insight and benefit from this lead information.
You can map any form field to any Sitefinity Insight contact property, including the custom ones. Keep in mind that if you create the Sitefinity CMS form first, you can skip data mapping to configure it only after you create relevant contact properties in Sitefinity Insight. For more information, see Configure contact properties.
To send form data to Sitefinity Insight:
NOTE: If you do not select this option, only the number of form submissions is tracked by Sitefinity Insight, as opposed to sending the data from all mapped fields to Sitefinity Insight when a visitor submits a form.
NOTE: If you do not map any field, no form data is sent to Sitefinity Insight.
NOTE: All contact property aliases are listed in brackets next to the property name. The value within the brackets is included in the subject metadata of the interaction, that is, the data sent to Sitefinity Insight after form submission.
Besides tracking of the number of forms visitors submit, you can also dynamically report the data of Web Forms form fields to Sitefinity Insight. To do this, when creating the form, in the advanced settings of the form builder, for every input field of a form, you specify a Sitefinity Insight form field name. Only the fields that have the FieldName property set are sent to Sitefinity Insight. Thus, when you create a form, you can control which fields are to be related to the contact profile and which are not. After form submission, the field name is automatically sent to Sitefinity Insight as subject metadata along with the field value. Thus, this data is associated with the relevant contact profile and enriches contact details.
