Software module for capturing selected network traffic is used to capture the required sample of packets including packet payload (L2-L7). The filter criteria include layer two through layer seven of network traffic. Traffic capture capabilities are unified for different platforms: commodity network cards are used for 1/10 Gb/s networks, hardware-accelerated cards are used for 40/100 Gb/s networks.
