What You Will Learn
In this learning path, you will learn how to use Virtual Monitoring to configure, discover, and manage VMware and Hyper-V virtual machines, hosts, and servers on your network. You will learn about the actions, alerts, and thresholds that are available to effectively monitor virtual devices, along with relevant dashboards and logs.
You will learn how to:
- Prepare and run discovery scans for virtual devices.
- Start monitoring a discovered virtual environment.
- Review monitored virtual device information using the Device Information card and Device Properties page.
- Use the unique features available for virtual environments on the My Network view.
- Leverage virtual device groups for filtering, reporting, and diagnosing problems.
- Configure monitors and event listeners for virtual devices.
- Create an action and action policy for a virtual device.
- Configure VMware and Hyper-V event alert thresholds.
- Configure device dependencies to avoid alert storms.
- Understand the data presented in the Virtual Monitoring dashboard.
- Create custom views for the Home dashboard to report on virtual device information.
You can practice the concepts taught in each course with hands-on exercises, complete with step-by-step guidance. Assess your knowledge with in-course Check Your Understanding questions. You can also demonstrate your skills with assessment exams for each course.
Training Prerequisites
Before you begin the learning path, you should meet the following prerequisite:
- You must have WhatsUp Gold installed on your network with the Virtual Monitoring add-on.
How to Subscribe
Step 1 - Log in
Visit the Progress Education Community (PEC) and log in with your Progress ID. If you do not have a Progress ID, you can register here.
Note: You must activate your Progress ID prior to logging in to the Progress Education Community
Step 2 - Find Your Content & Start Learning
Navigate to the Content Library and search for: WhatsUp Gold Virtual Monitoring Learning Path. Then simply click the title for FREE access to the course.
