Vitalbox Launches Personal Health Platform Based on Progress BRMS Technology

As the world’s population continues to increase, grow older and develop chronic diseases earlier, providers are challenged with making healthcare more accessible, effective and affordable. To help address this growing issue, Brazil-based Vitalbox developed a Personal Health Platform to benefit both patients and caregivers by providing a health map that uses a patient’s medical history and lifestyle to calculate the chance of developing chronic conditions, and then proposes actions to reduce risks.

Previously, Vitalbox spent a lot of time and resources on manually coding rules for each individual profile to push out personalized information, notifications and advice. That was until they discovered Progress Business Rules Management (BRMS) technology and used it to deploy an automated, cloud-based business rules management system.

A few months after the platform launched, more than 16,000 people in Brazil were using it. This spike in users produced structured and unstructured data that Vitalbox had to manage and store as each user entered their personal health issues, goals and measurements. Using Progress Corticon BRMS - part of the Progress Pacific Platform - Vitalbox was able to easily manage the customized profiles of its thousands of users, more effectively than with traditional database and software techniques.

The company is now able to deploy a new rule in 10 minutes, as opposed to waiting the 6 hours that it used to take. With such great success, Vitalbox is now planning to introduce its low-cost preventative healthcare tools to countries around the world.
