Use PayPal Payments Standard payment processor

When you have chosen PayPal Payment Standard as a payment method's payment processor in Create payment methods, you should configure and run a successful test before you move to a live configuration.

Setting up a test configuration

1. Create a PayPal Payment Standard account, as follows:
   1. Connect to www.paypal.com and on Business tab, click Create Account.
   2. In the dropdown, select your country and under PayPal for business, click Get Started.
   3. Fill out the required information.
   4. Login https://developer.paypal.com using your PayPal email address and password.
   5. On the Applications tab, click Sandbox accounts » Create Account.
   6. In Country dropdown, choose your country.
      If your country is not listed, select any country from the list, since this is a test account.
   7. In Account type, choose Business.
   8. Fill out the rest of the form and click Create account.
   9. Create one more account with Account type set to Personal.
   10. On Sandbox test accounts page, click Enter Sandbox site link.
   11. Login with the credentials of the Business account that you created.
   12. Click My Account » Profile » My Account Settings.
   13. Under Selling Preferences, click Website Payment Preferences.
   14. Turn Auto Return on.
   15. In Return URL, enter a random URL.
       You can enter any valid URL, since Sitefinity CMS overwrites it.
   16. Turn Payment Data Transfer on.
       In the Payment Data Transfer section, an Identity token appears.
   17. Copy and save the token.
   18. Click Choose IPN Settings.
   19. In Notification URL, enter a random URL.
       You can enter any valid URL, since Sitefinity CMS overwrites it.
   20. Select Receive IPN Messages.
   21. Click Save.
2. In your Sitefinity website backend, on the Create a payment method page:
   Select the Mode: Test option.
   1. In Gateway URL input field, enter https://www.sandbox.paypal.com/webscr
   2. In Email, enter the email from your PayPal registration.
   3. In PDT Identity Token, enter the token you saved.
   4. In Timeout, enter 30000.
   5. In Payment type, select Sale.
   6. Clear the option This payment method is active.
   7. Click Create this payment method.

After you have tested PayPal Payments Standard and you are ready to move your website into production, configure the payment method to work in live mode, as follows:

1. Select the Mode: live option.
2. Change the URL to https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr.
3. Click Save Changes.
