Keyboard shortcut functions

The following tables list keyboard shortcut functions you can use in the rich-text editor.

Shortcuts available in the Rich-text editor

General functions

Shortcut Description
Ctrl+Z 
Undo the last action
Ctrl+Y
Redo the last action
Ctrl+K
Opens the Insert a link dialog
Ctrl+J  Opens the Select an image dialog 
Ctrl+L  Opens the Select a document dialog 
F11 Maximizes the editor window to full screen or vice versa
F10 Focuses on the toolbar functions
Tab or Right arrow Focuses next icon in the toolbar when toolbar is on focus
Shift+Tab or Shift+Left arrow Focuses previous icon in the toolbar when toolbar is on focus

Move text

Shortcut Description
Left or Right arrow Move cursor one character to the left or right
Ctrl+Left or Ctrl+Right arrows
Move one word to the left or right
Up or Down arrows Move up or down one line
Ctrl+Up or Ctrl+Down arrows
Move up or down one paragraph
End
Move to the end of the current line
Home
Move to the beginning of the current line
Ctrl+End
Move to the end of the text
Ctrl+Home
Move to the beginning of the text

Select text

Shortcut Description
Ctrl+A
Select all content
Shift+Left or Shift+Right arrows
Extend selection by one character to the left or right
Ctrl+Shift+Left or Ctrl+Shift+Right arrows
Extend selection by one word to the left or right
Shift+Up or Shift+Down arrows
Extend selection up or down one line
Shift+End
Extend selection to the end of the line
Shift+Home
Extend selection to the beginning of the line
Ctrl+Shift+Home or Ctrl+Shift+End
Extend selection to the beginning or end of the text

Edit text

Shortcut Description
Ctrl+C
Copy selected text or graphics to the clipboard
Ctrl+X
Cut selected text or graphics to the clipboard
Ctrl+V
Paste the contents of the clipboard
Enter New paragraph
Shift +Enter New line
Backspace Delete one character to the left
Ctrl+Backspace
Delete one word to the left
Delete Delete one character to the right
Ctrl+Delete
Delete one word to the right

Apply character formatting

Shortcut Description
Ctrl+B 
Apply bold formatting to selected text
Ctrl+I Apply italic formatting to selected text
Ctrl+U Apply underline formatting to selected text

Shortcuts available in content and media pages 

These shortcuts are applicable to News, Events, Images, Document & Files, and dynamic content item pages. To access these pages, open the Content menu in the toolbar.

Shortcuts available when content and media items are created or edited

These shortcuts are available when News, Events, Images, Document & Files, and dynamic content items are created or when they are edited through their properties page.

Alt+P
Upload and/or publish the current item Create, upload, and edit content and media item pages in the New interface
Ctrl+S or Alt+D Save item as draft or continue Create, upload, and edit content and media item pages in the New interface
Alt+F2 Preview the current item Edit blog posts page in the New interface
Alt+U Unpublish the current item Create, upload, and edit content and media item pages in the New interface
Alt+S Schedule publish or unpublish the current item Create, upload, and edit content and media item pages in the New interface
Alt+Del Delete the current item Create, upload, and edit content and media item pages in the New interface


Shortcuts available in the Pages screen

These shortcuts are used in the Pages screen. To access it click Pages in the toolbar.

Alt+N
Create a page Pages screen
Alt+P Publish the selected pages Pages screen
Alt+U Unpublish the selected pages Pages screen
Alt+S Schedule publish or unpublish the selected pages Pages screen

Shortcuts available when Pages are created or edit

These shortcuts are available when a page is created or edited.

Shortcuts available in non-lifecycle content items and classification pages

These shortcuts are applicable to the classifications pages – Tags, Categories, and All classifications – and to the Blogs and Lists pages. To access these pages, open the Content menu in the toolbar.
