Copy-paste and duplicate widgets

You can facilitate you page construction process by using already configured widgets and duplicating their content or copying and pasting their setting in another widget.

• Duplication creates the same widget with the same content on the same page.
  For the Section widget, duplication duplicates both widget settings and content widgets placed inside.
  
• Copy-paste replicates the settings of one widget in another widget of the same kind on the same or a different page.
  For the Section widget copying and pasting copies only the widget settings, but not the content widgets, placed inside.
  

You can configure a widget and copy its settings. Then, you can paste them in another widget on another page from the same or a different website from your multisite Sitefinity CMS instance.

PREREQUISITES: You can copy and paste settings only between the same type of widgets.

To do this, perform the following:

1. Navigate to the page where you have the configured widget and open it for editing.
   
2. Click the widget to open the menu.
   
3. Click  (More options) » Copy settings.
   The system stores the copied settings for 60 minutes.
   
4. Navigate to the page where you want to paste the settings and open it for editing.
   It can be a page from the same site or from another site of your multisite instance.
   
5. Drop the same type of widget and click it to open the menu.
   The widgets that you use for copying and pasting can be placed in differently sized columns.
   
6. Click  (More options) » Paste settings.

   NOTE: When you copy and paste the settings of a Section widget, they are pasted without the content widgets located inside the Section widget.

RESULT: All widget settings, styles, and advanced settings are applied to the new widget. If it is an Image widget, the selected widget is also selected for the new widget. You can later choose another image.

You can duplicate a widget on the same page. The widget is duplicated together with its settings, styles, and advanced settings.

To do this, perform the following:

1. Navigate to the page where you have the widget and open it for editing.
   
2. Click the widget to open the menu.
   
3. Click  (More options) » Duplicate.
   

RESULT: The widget is duplicated, together with its configurations and placed under the original widget. You can later drag it on another place on the page.
If you duplicate a Section widget, it is duplicated together with the content widgets that are placed inside it.
