Create events

1. If you have multiple sites, on Events page select the site where you want to create events, using the selector in the upper-left corner of the page. 
   If your site uses more than one source for events, you must choose the source where you want to create the event.
   If you have more than one sources configured, all available sources are displayed in the toolbar, where you can select the source of your choice.

2. Perform one of the following:
   • If you have not created any events, the system displays the following in the center of the screen:

     

     NOTE: If you are working in multilingual mode, the first event you create is in the default language.

   • If you have already created one or more events, the system displays a list of all created events and the following button in the toolbar of Events page:

     

     NOTE: If you are working in multilingual mode, before creating an event, you must first choose the language in which you want to create the event. Select the language from Languages dropdown box in the right of the page.

3. Click Create an event.
   The Create an event page appears.
4. In the Title input field, describe the event.
5. In the text editor enter information for the event.
   For more information, see Text editor .
6. To enter a summary of the event, click Click to add summary.
7. Select whether you want to make this even recurrent or not.
   In the Repeat event dropdown box, choose one of the following:
   

   None	To schedule the starting and the ending date and time of the event, use the Event start and Event end input fields.
   Daily	Choose the Start time and the End time of the event. Under Repeat…, select the interval of repetition. You can enter an interval. For example, if you enter 2, the event will be repeated every other day. You can also select to repeat the event every day, except the weekend. In Event start, select the date of the first occurrence of the event. In Event end…, you can choose to end the event after: A selected number of repeated. On a particular date. Do not end the event.
   Weekly	Choose the Start time and the End time of the event. Under Repeat…, select the interval of repetition. For example, if you enter 2, the event will be repeated every other week. Select the weekdays when the event will occur. In Event start, select the date of the first occurrence of the event. In Event end…, you can choose to end the event after: A selected number of repeated. On a particular date. Do not end the event.
   Monthly	Choose the Start time and the End time of the event. Under Repeat…, perform one of the following: Enter the day of the month when the event will occur and enter the interval of repetition. For example, if you enter 5 and 2, the event will occur on the fifth date of every other month. Select the week of the month that the event will occur, then select either the exact weekday or select between day, weekday, and weekend day. Enter the interval of repetition. For example, you can select the third Monday of every second month. In Event end…, you can choose to end the event after: A selected number of repeated. On a particular date. Do not end the event.
   Yearly	In Event start, select the date of the first occurrence of the event. Under Repeat…, perform one of the following: Select the month and enter the day. The event will occur annually on this date. Select the week of the month that the event will occur, then select either the exact weekday or select between day, weekday, and weekend day. Select the month. For example, you can choose the first Sunday of April. In Event end…, you can choose to end the event after: A selected number of repeated. On a particular date. Do not end the event.

8. For every type of recurrence, you can select whether the event is an All day event.
   This way you do not have to fill out the starting and ending time of the event.

   NOTE: Keep in mind that when creating All day events, you need to set the end date to be the day after the event ends. For example, if your event lasts from March 2 to March 4, set March 5 as an end date. Even if the event is just on March 2, set the end date as March 3.

9. For every type of recurrence, you can select a time zone for the event that is different than the default one.
   You use the Time zone dropdown box.
   You configure the default time zone using the Administration: Settings and configurations.
   Sitefinity CMS automatically handles daylight saving time.
10. You can classify your event using the Categories and tags section.

    Classifying content helps you organize it. For more information about classifications, see Overview: Classify your content using taxonomies.
11. Use the Calendar dropdown box to select the calendar that the event belongs to.
    The dropdown box contains a list of all created calendars. For more information, see Manage event calendars.
12. To assign a location of the event, click Location.
    In the input fields that appear, enter the address of the event.
13. To provide contact information for the event, click Contact information.
    In the input fields that appear, enter contact details.
14. By clicking More options, you can change the following:
15. If you have added any custom fields for events, all created fields are displayed after the More actions section.
    Using custom fields, you can, for example, add a custom field Dresscode n image to the event.

    IMPORTANT: Some of the above fields may not be displayed when you create an event, because they have been hidden.

16. Before you finish creating an event, you can preview it by clicking the Preview button in the toolbar.
    The event opens in its default page. If there is no default page, it means the event is not displayed anywhere on the site and you cannot preview it.
    To see which the default page for the event is, expand Pages in the right side. The page on the top of the list is the default page. For more information about viewing and setting default pages, see Locations of content items: Canonical URLs.
17. When you are finished creating the event, you must set its status, using the buttons on top and at the bottom of the event. For more information, see Set the status of new pages and content items.
