Administration: Setup connectors to translation services

Before you can use the Translations module, you have to setup the connectors to the translation services. Only the XLIFF file export is setup by default. You can setup the following connectors: 

The Translations module has this connector setup by default. You can add more than one XLIFF file connector. By default, only the Xliff connector is configured. To create more connectors, perform the following:

1. Click Administration » Settings » Translations » Connectors.
2. Click Create new.
3. In Name, enter a name for the connector
4. In Title, enter the title that will appear in the UI
   For example, Export to XLIFF file 2
5. In ConnectorType, enter Telerik.Sitefinity.Translations.Xliff.DefaultXliffConnector
6. In Supported languages, enter the languages which you want the connector to work with and for which you have an account.
   For example, if you enter en-us -> fr-fr; en-us -> es-es, it means you have account for translation service for US English to French and Spanish.
7. Save you changes
   The connector appear under Connectors.
8. Click Parameters and create the parameters with the following keys:
   • splitJobsPerLanguage
     This parameter indicates whether the exported translation files should be split by language or exported into a single file. In Value, enter true or false
   • librariesProviderName
     This is the library provider. In Value, enter sf_translations_lib_provider
   • exportLibraryId
     In Value, enter the ID of the library that will hold the exported XLIFF files.
   • importLibraryId
     In Value, enter the ID of the library that will hold the XLIFF files for the import.
9. Save your changes.

This connector automatically sends the XLIFF files, generated by the Translations module, to an FTP server of the translation agency. When the items are translated, the agency uploads them on the FTP server and the connector automatically imports them in Sitefinity.

To configure XLIFF file (FTP) connector, perform the following:

1. Click Administration » Settings » Translations » Connectors.
2. Click Create new.
3. In Name, enter XliffFTP
4. In Title, enter Export to XLIFF file (FTP)
   This is the title that appears in the UI, you can enter any title that is convenient for you.
5. In ConnectorType, enter Telerik.Sitefinity.Translations.Xliff.FtpXliffConnector
6. In Supported languages, enter the languages which you want the connector to work with.
   For example, if you enter en-us -> fr-fr; en-us -> es-es, it means you have account for translation service for US English to French and Spanish.
7. Save you changes
   The connector appear under Connectors.
8. Click Parameters and create the parameters with the following keys, the values for which will be provided to you by the translation agency that you have chosen:
   • splitJobsPerLanguage
     This parameter indicates whether the exported translation files should be split by language or exported into a single file.
   • HostName
     The FTP host
   • UserName
     The username for the FTP server
   • Password
     The password for the FTP server
   • TranslatedFilesDir
     The name of the import folder where the agency places all translated files. The Translations module will automatically get the files, import the translations, and delete the translated files from the folder.
     
   • ExportedFilesDir
     The name of the export folder where all exported .xlf files will be located. If not existing, the folder is automatically created.
     
9. Save your changes.

This connector integrates the translation service of the agency, which consumes the translation files directly. Files are automatically sent and imported in Sitefinity CMS. By default, Sitefinity CMS uses Lionbridge Freeway via the Clay Tablet Connector. 

To setup this connector, you need to have a Lionbridge account. When you create the account, the agency will provide you with the required parameters. 

To configure the connector, perform the following:

1. Install NuGet package Telerik.Sitefinity.Translations.ClayTablet.
2. Build your project. 
3. Click Administration » Settings » Translations » Connectors.
4. Click Create new.
5. In Name, enter Lionbridge
6. In Title, enter Export to Lionbridge Freeway
   This is the title that appears in the UI, you can enter any title that is convenient for you.
7. In ConnectorType, enter Telerik.Sitefinity.Translations.ClayTablet.FreewayConnector
8. In Supported languages, enter the languages which you want the connector to work with and for which you have an account.
   For example, if you enter en-us -> fr-fr; en-us -> es-es, it means you have account for translation service for US English to French and Spanish.
9. Save you changes
   The connector appear under Connectors.
10. Click Parameters and create the parameters with the following keys, the values for which will be provided to you by Lionbridge Freeway:
    • SourceAccountId
    • SourceAccountDateCreated
    • SourceAccountProducerId
    • SourceAccountPublicKey
    • SourceAccountPrivateKey
    • SourceAccountQueueEndpoint
    • SourceAccountStorageBucket
    • TargetAccountId
    • TargetAccountDateCreated
    • TargetAccountPublicKey
    • TargetAccountPrivateKey
    • TargetAccountQueueEndpoint
    • TargetAccountStorageBucket
11. Save your changes.

This connector integrates the translation service of the agency, which consumes the translation files directly. Files are automatically sent and imported in Sitefinity. 

PREREQUISITES: You must have an account with a translation agency that uses the Clay Tablet connector. When you create an account the agency will provide you the required parameters' values that you need to setup the connector in Sitefinity.

   This is the title that appears in the UI, you can enter any title that is convenient for you.
7. In ConnectorType, enter Telerik.Sitefinity.Translations.ClayTablet.ClayTabletTranslationConnector
8. In Supported languages, enter the languages which you want the connector to work with and for which you have an account.
   For example, if you enter en-us -> fr-fr; en-us -> es-es, it means you have account for translation service for US English to French and Spanish.
9. Save you changes
   The connector appear under Connectors.
10. Click Parameters and create the parameters with the following keys, the values for which will be provided by the translation agency:
    • SourceAccountId
    • SourceAccountDateCreated
    • SourceAccountProducerId
    • SourceAccountPublicKey
    • SourceAccountPrivateKey
    • SourceAccountQueueEndpoint
    • SourceAccountStorageBucket
    • TargetAccountId

11. Save your changes.

In addition to the built-in Translation module connectors, you can implement your own translation connector with custom logic to serve your requirements. You do this by first creating and completing the setup the connector and then use the Translation API to implement the overall translation process.
