From the source server to the target server, you can synchronize the following content:
You can synchronize products from both predefined and custom product types. You cannot synchronize the product types themselves. For more information, see Prerequisites and restrictions » Restrictions.
By default, Sitefinity CMS synchronizes the following settings:
NOTE: If a site has not been created yet on the target server, you cannot sync items from it, unless the site is included in the synchronization items.
IMPORTANT: You must have the same global permissions on the source and the target servers, because items that inherit from the global permissions of the source server, after synchronization, will inherit from the global permissions of the target server.
If you break the inheritance of an item and sync this item from the source to the target server, by default, permissions will be synchronized too.
You can turn off permissions synchronization. To do this, on the source server, click Administration » Settings» Advanced » SiteSync, select Disable permissions sync checkbox, and save your changes.
By clicking Administration » Settings » Advanced » SiteSync, you can also turn on the synchronization of the following settings and configurations:
dataConfig
notificationsConfig
siteSyncConfig
systemConfig
securityConfig
everliveConnectorConfig
sharepointConnectorConfig
NOTE: You can, however, synchronize library content that is stored in the File system storage.
For all selected items types, you can use selective sync. This way, you can choose not to synchronize all new or updated items of a certain type, but only selected ones or only item from in a particular language. The system automatically resolves the dependencies between items. For example, if you have selected to sync a particular blog post only, the system automatically syncs also the parent blog.
The dependencies between synced items are as follows:
NOTE: Pages and Page Templates require the widget templates to be manually selected for sync.
