Administration: Install and use the Diagnostics module

You must first enable the Diagnostics module.
The module is disabled by default.

To enable it, perform the following:

1. In Sitefinity CMS backend, click Administration » Modules and Services.
2. Find the Diagnostics and in its Actions menu click Install.

To access the Diagnostics module, click Administrations » Diagnostics.
You use the Diagnostics module for database profiling. Then you can view a report with the results of the profiling. 

EXAMPLE: You want to check how a certain action is executed, for example - opening a news item and leaving a comment.
To get a report, you first start database profiling, execute the action, stop profiling, and view the report.

The actions available in the module are the following:

• Start database profiling 
  To do this, open the Diagnostics module and click the Start database profiling.
• Stop database profiling
  To do this, open the Diagnostics module and click the Stop database profiling.
• Clear diagnostics data 
  To clear the diagnostics information from the database, open the Diagnostics module and click the Clear diagnostics reports button.
  This deletes from the database all tracing information generated so far.

IMPORTANT: The database profiling can generate a lot of tracing data in a short period. When you do not use the module, you must stop database profiling.
