Site sync procedure
To synchronize data to the predefined server(s), perform the following:
- In the main menu, click Administration » Staging & Syncing.
- If you have multiple sites on you source server, you can choose which sites you want to synchronize.
For each site, you can check the last synchronization details. If the site has never been synced and does not exist on the target server, it will be created automatically during the sync operation.
If you have configured a synchronization to more than one target server, a drop down appears where you choose which target you want to use.
NOTE: Synchronization is performed on a provider level and, if you have shared providers for sites and select a site with shared provider, its items are synchronized for all sites, even though some of them were not selected for synchronization.
EXAMPLE: You have two sites on your source that share one provider for news. If you choose to sync only the News items from Site1, Sitefinity CMS syncs the shared provider for news, therefore, all news items in this provider will be synced, regardless of whether they are displayed on Site1 or Site2.
- Under What do you want to sync ?, perform the following:
- Select one or more types of content for synchronization.
- Click the Change button of the content where you want to use selective sync.
A window appears.
Select one of the following: - All new or updated
All new or updated published or scheduled items from the selected type are synced.
If you are using more than one language, you can also choose if you want to sync items in a particular language only. - Selected items only
A list of all published or scheduled items appears.
Select the checkboxes of the items that you want to sync and click Done.
If you are using more than one language, you can also choose if you want to sync items in a particular language only.

Only published and scheduled for publishing items are synced.
The items on the target server are replaced by the source items that you have chosen for synchronization.
NOTE: If you have upgraded you project, no items are marked for synchronization, unless you republish them.

- Start sync
When sync is completed, the system displays a report. If something fails to synchronize, it appears in the report and you can see details. - Schedule syncing
Schedule sync
When you schedule a sync the job appears under tab Schedules tasks.
NOTE: You can configure the number of times and the interval that they system will attempt to sync content, if there are items that failed to sync. To do this, click Administration » Settings » Advanced » SiteSync.
- In Sync operation retry interval field, enter in minutes the interval on which the synchronization will be retied
- In Retry count when there are failed items field, enter the count of times that synchronization will be attempted, if there are failed items
Site sync log file
The synchronization log file is located in folder
\App_Data\Sitefinity\Logs
The file is named
Synchronization.log
